When I make plots AutoCAD adds the layout name to the file name. I have a file called A1-1 but the PDF file name comes out A1-1 24x36(1).pdf.

Any way for me to set it so it just comes out as "A1-1.pdf"?

That would be helpful so I do not have to open a file renamer and rename all of the files.

Thanks!

When you save the file, you can rename it then. The PDF plotter should ask you where to save the file and give you a typical file window so you can select the folder. That same window will include the file name, which you can edit before you save it.

It would be much nicer if AutoCAD would stop adding things like -model or (1) to the drawing name when saving as a PDF.

I had 68 P&IDs to plot as PDFs and I did not want -model to be added to the drawing name each and every time. What a pain in the butt it was to edit each before saving it.

This gets asked a lot. I am sure by now there is a program a LISP or something. Does this happen when using an external PDF plotter, been so long I do not remember.

If you use the PUBLISH command you can do this when using the DWG to PDF.pc3 plotter.

I currently use a free file renamer program that will edit so many digits out of a file name but I would prefer not to have to do that. Would be easier if AutoCAD just did it automatically. That is how MicroStation does it unless you are batch plotting.

I think you will find its to do with your pdf writer if its cutepdf then you get this problem try DWG to PDF as above.

Using AcroPlot. There are a lot of options for file naming. You can use file name, layout tab name, or an attribute from the title block to name a few.
