View the PLT file with any of the following:

AutoManager View

SPLOT

ViewCompanion

AutoVue

CAD Viewer

Normica

Plot File Manager

If you have to edit the file ask your friend to resend it in DWG format.

What version of AutoCAD is he using?

type PLT2DWG on the command line or Express>Modify>File Tools>Convert PLT to DWG

That only works on really old HP-GL format plot files.

my friend sent me a autocad plt file but i cant open it...

Do you really need to open it or just plot/print it?

Do you realize that a plot file is not a DWG? Even if you get a program that supposedly converts from PLT to DWG, you will be missing accuracy, layers, blocks, etc. Read more: http://cadpanacea.com/node/17
