In previous versions of AutoCAD the display of the layer status was continually on. In v2011 I am using the ribbon bar and I would like to see what layer I am on at present and what are the conditions I am operating under. Is that possible without having to click on a drop down menu?

The status IS shown on the Layers Panel:

Or you can still dock the Layers toolbar.
