Anyone know how to add a boarder to Mtext? rectangular with chamfer corners not sharp corners like background mask.

All I can think of would be a block with multi-line attribute. You'll probably want to make it into a dynamic block to be able to stretch the border's width & height. If also needed you could place a wipeout or RGB:255,255,255 coloured solid hatch inside the border to get a background mask effect as well.

Oh! Forgot to say: If you want to edit it the same way you'd have done with normal MText, hold down the Ctrl key and then double click. ;)

Have a look on Lee Macs website, he has some fancy LISP programs for doing useful things with text and mtext.

 

Alternatively, Express Tools can place boxes around text and mtext.
