cadman6735 Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Hi all I am having a strange issue with a specific file. If I copy to clipboard any element in this file it locks up. If I wblock the drawing, it locks up. If I open a blank file and select an element and drag and drop it in to the new blank file, it works fine. If I copy to clipboard the droped element in the new file it works fine. It is local to this one file. This one file is most probably a 2008 file originaly, opened and saved to 2012. What gremlins should I look for from older verstion to newer version that would cause this issue? Thanks Thanks Quote
cadman6735 Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 Audit and purge, yes Recover, no ( I will give it a try ) Thanks Quote
Tyke Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Can you issue the WBLOCK command and using a crossing window select all items in the drawing and then you should have a cleaned up version of your drawing when you open up the drawing you created in WBLOCK. Quote
cadman6735 Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 Hi Tyke Sorry, as posted in my OP wblock locks up too. I am stumped. Quote
Jeff H Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Load it up and will look at it with MgdDbg Quote
cadman6735 Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 I can't seem to upload, it is 3.13mb is this too large? What is my upload limit, can't seem to find this information. Quote
nestly Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I think the attachment size for dwg's is 1/2 MB. If it doesn't contain any sensitive information, you can upload it to one of the free file hosts like http://www.multiupload.com or http://www.rapidshare.com and post the link here. Quote
SLW210 Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Was this file ever worked on with AutoCAD 2007? Try saving to 2000 or previous version. Quote
RobDraw Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 When you do save it down, use the export option. I know you said you tried to write a block from that drawing but have you tried inserting the drawing as a block into a clean file? Quote
cadman6735 Posted August 12, 2011 Author Posted August 12, 2011 @RobDraw, yes I can xref it into a clean file bind with insert option, xplode block and all works fine. Great solution, (if you can't push the file out, pull the file in) Not sure why I didn't think of that. Thanks Also just found out that there are Microstation elements in this ACAD file, the file was not translated correctly. I can't thank you all enough, you all have a wonderful help your fellow man attitude, Thank you. Quote
RobDraw Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 the file was not translated correctly. Which is often the case with wonky files. Quote
ReMark Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Conversions and translations rarely prove trouble-free. There always seems to be a "gotcha-cha". Glad to hear you got your problem solved. Quote
cadman6735 Posted August 12, 2011 Author Posted August 12, 2011 yes, convertions, I spend alot of time working with conversions, Revit to ACAD, ACAD to Mstation and a combination of all 3 is some crazy order. Not the best practice but this is what we do. I have asked a lot of questoins on this site and the swamp and recieved a tremendous amount of support with me not contributing back. I spend most of my time on Revit City helping there. If any of you ever need Revit help please contact me at Revit City (same user name) let me know you are a cadTutor or Swamper and I will make it my priority to help the best I can. you guys are awsome Thanks Quote
