Convert educational files...

Recommended Posts

Recently I received a set of files from a subcontractor. When I open them it informs me that the files were created using an educational version of the software and that the educational border will print. I have been fine with that while doing test prints and making alterations. Now I have completed the drawings and need to print up finals and I really cannot have that border on the plans.

Is there any way to convert a file made with an educational version to a regular version file.

Thanks in advance.

I think its illegal for company to use educational version.

not to mention that it will infect every drawing that any portion of an "educational" product touches.

The first thing you should have done when you found out is to report it back to the originator and destroyed those files.

Now you have used them you are going to have a hell of a job trying to eliminate the educational banner.

and yes, it is illegal for a company to use an educational version

It is a violation of your AutoCAD software agreement to use an educational version of any AutoDesk product for commercial (for profit) purposes. Furthermore, using content created with an educational version of an AutoDesk product puts your company's drawings at risk because the "educational stamp" will now appear as part of the drawing even though you may be using the full, licensed version of the software. Be prepared to spend a lot of time and possibly some money to eradicate the stamp, not to mention, the embarassment of having to contact your authorized reseller to request their help to do so. Of course, they must report this back to AutoDesk, who will, no doubt, take a dim view of this type of shenanigans.

I agree with all of the comments BUT..when working with outside people sometimes this happens. I got some once from a source outside of my country. I enformed them of the problem but nothing was done. Let me be clear, I do not support misuse of educational applications but sometimes a quick fix for the offending drawing just makes for a quick solution for the problem.

Contact the person who supplied you with these drawings and tell them they need to provide you with proper drawings created with a legal version of Autocad, not a student version. If they refuse to comply, contact your Autocad reseller, or your Autodesk rep, and report them.

The educational version is for students, not working professionals.

Contact Autodesk and report people who are using the student version for commercial purposes.

Be part of the solution instead of helping to perpetuate the problem.
