Can it be done like you can with Text etc?

i know it can be done via lineweights, but you cant "lock" the lineweight in model space,

at the mo, to generate a thinkness in a line i use the global width for that pline.

i dont want to use line weights as i sometimes have multiple lines with different widths on the same layer, i could split the layers, but i'd rather not to.

any help appreciated

Do it per layer, through the viewport. In the layer manager, scroll over to VP Lineweight.

Is this what you were after?

If you use STB (or even CTB) you can set the layer per VP for plot style name as well.

thanks,

but no its not, i've been playing with what you said but it doesnt really work that well.

as when you display line width in model space, it changes the width per your zoom level.

this is the sort of thing i was after, but for width and not type

i would be surprised if there wasnt an annotative line width, as everything else can be annotative

the only way I think it can be done is with a custom text style and a lisp routine, and that in itself doesnt seem easily accomplished.

Along with the above, turn LWT on, bottom of screen.

so i'm not being thick?

there is no easy way to have the polylines the same thickness across different scaled VP's except using line weights? and that has drawback

yeah,

i've used lineweights before, and didnt like how it works, i found global width in the properties to be much easier and absloute, abd like with annotative text, i can choose which lines i want at what thickness when they are on the same layer easier, and not a "guess" when it came to produce the final drawing, plus the scaling of the width in model space is relative to your zoom factor.

i've used line weights on this drawing, as i need to get it out,

but one thing, in my CTB file, i have line ends etc to be square, i have the correct CTB selected for the layout tab, along with all other print settings. it prints fine.

but when viewing the drawing in AutoCAD or one of the DWG viewers, both in Model space AND in paper space, it shows all the line ends to be round?

any way of sorting this?

i have checked all my line weight settings, etc and i cant work it out.
