ohenriquez Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Dear Members I am wondering whether Autocad can be used properly in my 15 inches Mackbook Pro (late 2010 model) I was given information that “Autocad does not work properly in Macs” and I was suggested to "install it in a Windows computer" (somehow I am nbot convinced by that explanation) . I have an old Windows pc (XP OS) and I don’t want to install Autocad on it. If Autocad does not work properly in Mac OS, I am willing to run it on Windows paralles on my Mac. So, the main question is: Does Autocad run properly on Mac Os (Snow leopard or Lion) You input is very much appreciated Regards DrO Quote
ReMark Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 There is a version called AutoCAD for Mac. You can check out the system requirements for running it on your laptop at the AutoDesk website. Quote
ohenriquez Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 Thanks a lot for your rapid reply, I am aware of that version and it is compatible with my macbook pro, the main question remains as to whether the autocad for mac forks well with macs, does autocad for mac works as well as autocad for windows, do they differ in the features and capabilities or can I achieve the same results with the 2 versions. Best Regards Omar Quote
SLW210 Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 AutoCAD for Mac has limited abilities compared to AutoCAD on Windows. You can try running on Parallels or Bootcamp it should work. Quote
ReMark Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Once again I would point you to the AutoDesk website where I believe you'll find a matrix comparing the Mac and Windows versions of AutoCAD and their respective features. If not there then I know for certain (100%) that it has been published independently as well since a lot of people have had the same question. Quote
f700es Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 If all else fails there is a demo for Mac that you can install and see if you can get by with it. Quote
