I am not familiar with 3D modelling in CAD.

I have a CAD file and a PDF version of the same. The CAD drawing is a 3D pipe with surface lines and all but the PDF has only the outline. But I am unable to print the CAD to PDF in the same manner. I tried 2dwirefram,3dwireframe, hidden options and all.but still no success. Please find the file attached for referencepdf version.png

Hi

I want to plot the 3D object in CAD(left hand side image) to look like the one in right

ok.heres what u need to do:

1.)go to layout.(you should see your 3dmodel from there)

2.)now hit MS command (model space command so you can enter into the model space.

3.)From there, click view then visual styles set it to 3dwireframe then also click "hide"(under "view").you should be able to hide those lines.

4.)once done, hit PS command to go back to paper space (paper space command)

5.)then hit CRTL+P to plot it.set the quality of drawing to "DRAFT"(also pen assignment should be in color black to get what u need. and your done you may set it depending on your preference.but i normally set it to DRAFT.goodluck. :)

Thanks for the quick reply.

yes, i tried "hide". not in the way you said, clicking "hide" unde "view" ddint work. so i had to select the object ,then give "hide" command.

But the surface lines appear even now.The PDF version seems to have the surface lines trimmed!!!

They could have done it manually or what?

hey..you might like to try to retrace the steps..i just printed some 3d models here at work and i just did the steps that i posted in your thread. the hide under the view should be working on your end. there is no trimmed lines in your pdf.it was done using " hide "(at my own point of view). just let us know if you were able to print your 3d model. Please see the 3dmodel that i printed(i use the steps above)
