DonovanPorter Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 morning guys and gal's since my new pc Civil 3D does not open with my profile that i have created when i still had my older pc , i used that profile for quite some time in civil 3D on my previous pc , but with my new pc i have to open Civil 3D and load my profile manually every time i open the program. i have found a solution where you can add the profile saved path in the short cut which you use to open the program with. i have tried that but i get an error saying i don't have admin rights. which is very strange cause i have full rights on my achine and the IT guy has confirmed that. confused ?? BlackBox Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 It sounds like the new PC simply has an OOTB installed application icon (one that does not load your customization by default). When you say you added the 'profile saved path'... did the application icon's Target path looks something like this: "<FilePath>\acad.exe" /ld "<FilePath>\AecBase.dbx" /p "<YourProfileName>" ??? BlackBox Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 (edited) This issues is simple - The icons that were installed are not on your desktop. At this point, you're probably saying "WTH is this guy talking about, of course they're on *my* desktop!?" LoL More specifically, the icons are installed under the C:\Users\Default\Desktop directory (where your user account does NOT have admin rights). These icons must be moved to C:\Users\\Desktop instead... only THEN will you be able to customize. Edit: This applies to Windows 7 only Hope this helps! Edited August 31, 2011 by BlackBox Quote
