How are you "PROS" changing out the sheet sets in Paperspace.

Hey Folks;

I want to start printing some of this stuff I've created, I used a sheet set I downloaded from somewhere but now that I'm further down the road I want to change the layout, title blocks and such. What's the best way you pros would handled this. I know there's times when a customer of yours walks in and says we want to change how the sheet looks, they have new logos, title block request and other things they want changed, they also want to change the sheet size, how would you handle these things, I'm really interested in how you would change the sheet size in the middle of a project.

As always many thanks

James

Create a layout, scale up/down the existing title block, make any other modifications and set the view port to the new scale.

Thanks emwhite;

Seems I'm making this too hard, I just created my first Sheet Set.

How come it is that the Super "B" 329x483mm paper isn't used so much, My Epson Photo printer does a fine job printing what is produced by AutoCad, that's a 13x19 inch piece of paper and this printer prints borderless. Seems strange I don't see this size paper used so much.

Thanks and just wondering.

You put Pro in quotes, which seems dismissive, was that your intent?

To answer your question, I use xrefs for the title block, logo, project status, etc. Something changes you only change the xref drawing and every drawing has the changes. Drawing size is another matter and depends on how much it changes and in which direction.

Given the OP's post count, and join date (of this month), I'd be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that no offense was intended. :wink:

... Don't forget about the PaperSpace entities, such as Viewport(s), sheet specific data (title, notes, revisions, and the like).

Currently we use attributed title blocks which use FIELDS to reference custom properties in our SSM (.DST file) for each project. This allows us the flexibility to make a single property value change (within the SSM), that is automatically applied to all sheets. If a sheet happens to be open, simply regen.

I couldn't tell you why. Typically here in the US, we use 11x17, 18x24, 24x36, etc. So that 13x19 is out of the norm for here. Glad I was able to help you!

I have yet to use Sheet Set Manager. I set up my title block like you but I didn't know it could be linked to the SSM. I will have to look in to that, especially when I reuse a drawing for the next job. Thank you!

I did not mean in any way to be dismissive to anyone here on this forum, I have corrected my post and removed the quotes from "PROS", actually I have a great respect to the architectural and engineering trades and anyone else who uses the cad methods of drafting, I apologize if anyone has taken any offense, it will not happen again.

Futhermore I appreciate the help I get here, this seems to be the best cad forum I've found with some very knowledgeable people, and I for one need that.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

I really haven't gotten into xrefs yet, can I even use them in Autocad LT 2012?

James

BTW; I love the way you can edit and fix your post on this forum, this is the first time I've ever seen this, good deal.

You can use X-refs in LT and since 2010LT it has become quite easy to amend them too.

However LT doesn't have the sheet set manager.

RenderMan

Edit: *not sure* ... Now that I think about it, I don't believe my company has a single install of LT AFAIK (+/-11K employees, +/-60% use CAD).

I xref our border into paperspace, doing so allows us to make changes to the border across an entire set with minimal time spent, I'd recommend educating yourself on the use of xref's as is probably going to be your most efficient option.

I think I'm beginning to get a handle on this now, I have completed 4 pages in Paperspace, now all I need to do is check behind myself and see what I've missed.

Thanks for the help from all, I really appreciate it.

I would also recommend attaching them with a realative path as this will allow you to move things from one server to another or from one directory structure to another with out having to re-attach everything.
