roymer88 Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Hi, I am a new user (using Autocad 2006). My problem is I have been given a drawing file that I need to modify but it was drawn in inches, I have always worked in mm's. Can I convert the origional drawing to mm's?? Many thanks for any help. ReMark Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 One option would be to scale the whole drawing by 25.4 (1'=25.4mm). Quote
emwhite Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 One option would be to scale the whole drawing by 25.4 (1'=25.4mm). That's the easiest way! If you need to scale back, then scale it by .03937 (the equivalent of 1/25.4). Quote

ReMark Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 It's easy as long as you aren't going to edit it too. Then the real fun begins. Quote

roymer88 Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 I will need to modify th drawing in mm's. Is that a problem? or do I have to redraw? Regards Roy Quote

If you need to return it back to the original CAD person, then you could scale it back down to imperial as a kind gesture. Quote

Tankman Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 (edited) You might consider the 'dimstyle' command. You could change the dimstyle adding alternate dimension(s). Add a suffix [mm] as shown. Edited September 8, 2011 by Tankman Quote
