Hello,

I'm an ACAD LT 2008 user demo'ing ACAD LT 2012.

In ACAD LT 2008 you can create a new layer (or layers) from a layer property filter and can edit all of the new property characteristics and the filters will not sort until you are done (apply). This is useful for creating multiple layers (especially matching your current filter) that you can copy and paste layer names. However, in ACAD LT 2012, as soon as you select "New Layer", a new layer named "Layer 1" automatically sorts/filters and it is gone from view, requiring you to find it before you can rename it and edit its properties. Is there a way around this?

Thanks,

Mike

Playing around with this some more, I realized that this is even stranger - this definitely always happens when you select the "New Layer VP Frozen in All Viewports" option. But if you just select the "New Layer" option, it depends on what layer filter you are currently in. It seems that if your filter has other filters that begin with "L", then you can edit the new layer name, etc. before it will sort, but if you select "New Layer" from inside a filter with no "L"'s, a new layer named "Layer 1" is created and sorted and you can't even tell that it occurred. At least when "New Layer VP Frozen in All Viewports" option is selected, it creates then new layer "Layer 1" and you can see it before it sorts.
