gotair1 Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Help!! I have been using AutoCAD LT 2005 and just got a new computer but lost the passcode or user code to install. Can someone help? Quote
ReMark Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 AutoCAD 2005 required two pieces of information. They were 1) the Serial Number (XXX-XXXXXXXX) and 2) the Authorization Code (XXXXXXXX). They should be on the box your software shipped in. If the software is legit give AutoDesk a call and maybe they'll help you out. If it wasn't legit then you're basically out of luck. Any chance your old computer is still around and bootable? Quote
gotair1 Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 Old computer is gone I have the disk with the serial I put the code on back of cover but smeered off Quote
ReMark Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 1) Try giving AutoDesk a call and tell them what happened. 2) Pray for divine intervention. Quote
gotair1 Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 You would not know how to find the pass key in the disk would you Quote
nestly Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Is there a reason you don't want to use Autodesk to help with this problem? There's a web form, and a phone number on this page. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=1073074 Quote
Cad64 Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 You would not know how to find the pass key in the disk would you The passcode is not "in the disk". Contact Autodesk, as previously mentioned, and have them issue you a new activation code. Quote
ReMark Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Had you kept your old computer (or even its hard drive) there might have been an outside chance that someone with a knowledge of the Windows Registry or another trick I won't mention here could have located the authorization code. Maybe. The point however is moot. Call AutoDesk. Do it....now. Quote
rkmcswain Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 You would not know how to find the pass key in the disk would you All media (CD, DVD, etc) is the same. They don't spend the time or money to individually code each one with a personal authorization. Just call Autodesk and see if they will help. Do you have original proof of purchase? That might help. If the OP had the old computer, the serial would have been found in HELP > About and the "Portable License Utility" in the Start Menu would have transferred the license. Quote
ReMark Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I agree but the authorization code would have been elsewhere. Quote
DANIEL Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I believe you need a new activation code every time you install. Quote
Cad64 Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I have a feeling we've seen the last of him. Quote
