Recording Tutorials

I will be taking an AutoCAD class at a local Community College starting on the 19th of this month.

The Instructor will be showing how to use the program on their computer. The instructions will be duplicated on the students computer. My question is what program is anyone using to to record the screen when making tutorials? I have found Cam Studio, but it only records for 10 min at a time or does anyone know how to extend Cam Studio run time. I would like to find a program that will record for one hour ( Class length) or longer. Any suggestions Also would like it to be a free ware. I will be recording to a 1tb Seagate Free Agent GoFlex portable drive.

Well, I'm not sure it will record for an hour, but you could try Jing. You can record short snippets of video.

If you're attention is on saving and restarting a screen recorder, you're going to miss part of the live demonstration, which will also be missing from the recording. I have Jing, but it's limited to 5 minute clips and it can sometimes cause AutoCAD to bog down pretty bad. I also have Camtasia Studio (made by the same company) which is a full featured program without a recording time limit. It's $300, but there's a 30 day trial (not sure if any of the features are limited during the trial)

IMO, If the instructor is good, I think the recording will be of limited use, and if the instructor is bad, the recording will also be of limited use. I'd just show up for the the class well rested and ready to pay attention.

Thanks Jeff H

Yes, I have a student email account at the school.

I will take a look at Expression.

I also found this You Tube tutorial on setting up Cam Studio.
