AGL147 Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 I have a number of drawings i need to put A0 - A3 boarders on, the drawings are drawn full size and are of a large factory site. Can someone step by step explain how to scale the 1:1 boarders with the drawings and also how to i scale the text and dimentions to be the correct height (3.5 text) I use Auto CAD 2008. Many thanks Quote
ReMark Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Are you planning on using layouts or will everything be done in model space? Quote
AGL147 Posted October 14, 2008 Author Posted October 14, 2008 I have done all my drawings in Model space (black background) not 100% sure what the other tabs do (white background) lol Quote
Dipali Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 refer to this tutorial http://www.cadtutor.net/tutorials/autocad/paper-space-exercise.php Quote
ReMark Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 If you don't use layouts and decide to do everything in model space then you'll have to draw your title block and border at a larger scale. When it comes time to plot you'll have to then scale everything down to fit on your sheet of paper. For example, I'm in the U.S. where architectural drawings are typically done at 1/4"=1'-0" or 1/8"=1'-0" depending on the size of the building. In our office we plot these drawings out on 36" wide x 24" high paper. When I take into account the size of the paper in model space it "measures" 144' wide x 96' high. However, when it comes time to plot I use a scale of 1/4"=1'-0". That's like saying 0.25" = 12. When layouts are used the title block and border and all associated text is done full size. A viewport is setup within the confines of the border where we will be able to set the view of our model space objects. The "scale" of the model space objects is applied to the viewport. Once that is completed we return to our layout and we plot at a scale of 1:1. Clear as mud? Quote
