Guest JoeRoscia Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 We are attempting to move from using ctb plot files to stb plot files but we are stumbling out of the gate. Can someone, who is familiar with both, give me instructions on how to convert an existing drawing over? Thanks for your help. Quote
rkent Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Congrats. First use CONVERTCTB. Then follow up with CONVERTPSTYLES. Also go here http://www.augi.com/publications/augiworld/issues/ and download the 2005 May/June issue, starting at page 24 is a good article on one method for using STBs. I personally prefer controlling linewidths in the STB whereas the article author likes linewidths set in the layer manager or at the object level, can't remember for sure. Quote
tzframpton Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Once you go STB you will wonder why you ever messed with CTB. :-) Quote
Guest JoeRoscia Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 [That's what I'm told but the problem is getting there! Quote
Guest JoeRoscia Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Yup, still confused and do not understand the benefits of STB over CTB... Quote
tzframpton Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 A thread started by rkent himself. This explains a lot. http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?27403-STB-and-CTB-advantages-disadvantages Also, the first thing you want to do after the steps that rkent gave in the 2nd post, is save that file as a Template file so that every time you start a new drawing, the STB properties are there and you don't have to convert every time.
