Why does my pencil appear to be semitransparent?

Hi There,

 

I have been doodling to learn some 3D techniques and I drew a pencil. As you can see from the image however, when I render it, the wooden part is semitransparent.

What could be causing this?

 

I tried attaching the dwg file but it is too large.

 

Can anyone offer a suggestion to make the wooden part solid?

you have to edit the material properties. there is a transparency and opacity setting. I cant remember off hand how to do it in 07 but i can tell you once i get to work tomorrow.

Of course it is!

I was playing around with the translucency setting and didn't see the opacity setting there.

I feel like a fool now.
