Prophecy99 Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Once in a far away land of the 3rd Dimension , there where dynamic blocks everywhere. But they were not called dynamic blocks, because the very thought of being called dynamic was so primitive that they were simply named by what they were wither it be a window, door, or floor they were called just that....what that has to do with my question I'm not sure... So to get to my point I am looking to modify an existing functional window dynamic block in just a plan view. The existing one is really simple, and I have been using a dynamic window block for a while now but now I am feeling ambitious and having trouble modifying it to act like its future offspring in the 3rd dimension. First lets start off with what I have - really simple. I have a simple window drawn in plan with 1 Linear Pair Parameter Set with 2 stretch actions for either side of the window to be able to be stretched to any desire. But the problem is when a window is in place and I want to change the window width it technically moves the center of the window therefore moving its location. -Like most Parameters, when you select the dynamic block and look at the properties you can see the Parameters distance listed and can change it there with out selecting any grips. This triggered what I thought would be a quick thing but now has me stumped. I want the window to be stretched the same distance on either side simultaneously with only one grip action or properties edit. For example if I grip edit the block on the left of the window and stretch it 6" it will stretch 6" on the other side of that window to increase the window overall 12". This allows the window CENTER to remain constant. So by placing the window center in place you can now change the width of the window at any time and keep the location of the window the same. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I am probably over thinking this but thanks for any help And if you're wondering I have used Revit Architecture for a while and its incredible and makes autocad primitive. But thanks to dynamic blocks I can draft in Autocad with the Revit state of mind. Quote
JBullseye74 Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 do you mean like this?....... Window.dwg Quote
Prophecy99 Posted October 3, 2011 Author Posted October 3, 2011 Thanks mate, That's exactly what I was describing. I imagined the Base Point Parameter Being something totally different. By reading its description in the Autocad Help Menu it didn't seem to be what I was looking for. Thanks alot JBullseye74 Quote
JBullseye74 Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Hi, No its not the base point parameter i just include this in my blocks. to achieve what you wanted all you do is click on the stretch parameter, go to properties/misc/base location and change it to midpoint rather than startpoint. Hope this helps. Quote
