berol Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Using Autocad 2000 LT and would like to know the best way to draw a 1/4" dia circle pattern. The circles centers to be 3/4" in from the edge and equal distance apart ( as close to 1" as possible) on all four sides of an 8" x 12" rectangle. Have tried a rectangular array and can't seem to get it to work properly. Thanks in advance Quote
JD Mather Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Sounds like maybe offset the outside perimeter 3/4 towards the inside. Make block of circle. Measure or Divide with the Block selecting the offset rectangle. Quote
CyberAngel Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 If I understand your situation correctly, you could Offset the sides of the rectangle inward by 3/4" and Fillet (radius 0) the corners if it's not a polyline. That would give you the construction lines for your circles. Those lines are 6.5" and 10.5" long. Evenly spaced on the short line, 6 circles would be 1.08" apart, while 7 would be 0.93" apart. Draw one circle at the corner, use Array with 7 columns and 1 row to cover the short line, or 6 columns and copy the first circle to the opposite corner. Copy those circles to the opposite side. Do the long sides similarly. Erase the construction lines. All done. If the rectangle isn't exactly horizontal/vertical, you'll have to adjust the array angle or the UCS. Your call. If that's not helpful, you might post an image or sketch of what you're trying to do. A picture usually helps. Quote
