nicolas foray Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Hi everybody, I'm a 2009 Autocad user. I have created different palettes with dynamic blocks all saved into the same source file. I've used the classic method of drag and drop block to create these palette. As I'm using them into drwings, I need to update some of the dynamic blocks to suit my needs. My problem is the following: Is there an automatic way to regen these blocks into the palettes as I'm updating them into the source file? What I do at the moment is delete manually the old block and drag and drop the updated one into the palette. But it can be a huge amount of work as the source file is on a shared network and different people are using these palettes, wich mean that if I do not save the palette once I've updated it manually, my collegues will be working with un-updated palettes. Thanks Evreybody for the precious help. Nicolas Quote
dbroada Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I'm not sure if I'm reading you correctly but if your blocks are linked to a source file you only need to modify the blocks within the source file - you don't have to do anything with the palette. The next time you drag from the palette into a drawing the updated block will arrive(*). * if an instance of this block already exists within your drawing the old version will still be inserted. In this case you should use Design Centre to update the block first. Quote
nicolas foray Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 Thank you very much Dave. I think that my mistake was to not redefine the blocks in the actual drawing with the Design center, and to be honest I had no idea I could do that. I also have to close the palette and open it again to use the updated block... Should the image of the updated block in the palette also change or do I have to redefine it myself ? Quote
dbroada Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 TBH, I don't know. Most of my blocks images are close enough for the sort of tweaks I do to not bother updating. One other thing to be aware of, you can use DC to update blocks (or -insert=) but this will change any sttributes. If your block has attributes you may need to ATTSYNC the block to get it to work correctly. Quote
tzframpton Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 In the Tool Palette, right-click the Block and choose "Refresh Image". Is this what you're looking for? Quote
nicolas foray Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 Thank you for the advice, I'll take care of that when I'll be using attributes. Quote
nicolas foray Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 I was searching to refresh images automatically, without having to select each blocks I've updated....but I couldn't find any other way then refreshing them one by one. Thank you Quote
