Hello,

Need some help with this idea. How would i go about hollowing out this curved pipe. Only way i know how to hollow anything is subtract. PIPE.jpg

You could have drawn a couple of circle (ID and OD) did a REGION followed by a SUBTRACT then either EXTRUDE or SWEEP along a path.

well i figured out one method. Drew a curve, copy and pasted it onto itself. Drew two circles one at 8" diam. and the other at 12" diam. Subtracted the smaller from the bigger.

Yep, that works too but why two curves? I'd just use the centerline of the ell and extrude/sweep along that.

Just use shell option in solidedit command, just tried it works great.

i thought that once you sweep that one curve becomes part of the solid. i would not be able to sweep again. no?

Well you now have multiple options so use the one that works best for you.

I would use Shell, but for you other question set delobj=0 so you preserve construction geometry.

My two cents worth...I would have drawn two circles, one the outside diameter and the other being the inside diameter. Then a polyline to represent the centerline of the path of the elbow. Make the two circles into regions and then subtract the smaller from the larger. Make sure the subtracted region is centered on the polyline then sweep or extrude it along this path.
