The Mad Cadder Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Hopefully, I did not post this to the wrong forum... I was looking in my temp folder and found a lot of .ac$ and .sv$ files in there. I've heard if you empty out your Temp folder, it will increase the performance of your computer. Thanks in advance. TMC Quote
JD Mather Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Yes they are save to delete. Also search for *.bak files. Quote
CyberAngel Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 A caveat--if you think you might have to go back to a previous version, and you don't always keep your revisions in strict order, leave the .BAK files there until you're sure you don't need them. Also, sometimes I need to check that folder for the projects I worked on at a particular time, in case I'm too busy to write down every single task for my time sheet. As a rule of thumb, I leave them there for six months. Quote
The Mad Cadder Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Thanks for the info guys. Quote
rkmcswain Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I would say keep your recent .SV$ files also. How you define recent is up to you, but as with the .BAK files that CyberAngel discussed above, you may just find out you need a backup of something one day. If you search around, there are BAT files that you can set up on a schedule to clean out your %temp% directory, saving anything "X" number of days old or newer. This might be a good option. Note that .SV$ files have their own .BAK files that are stored in the %temp% directory. Under normal circumstances, BAK files for drawings you are working on are stored in the same location as the DWG. Quote
