ScottyG Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I'm new to working with dynamic blocks, using AutoCAD 2007. I have a base cabinet elevation block and want to have it so that when I change the height the door swing line stays at the midpoint of the door. Any ideas? Quote
Bogbadbob658 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 I assume you are using a linear parameter and the stretch action. If you exclude the item you want to stay in the middle from the stretch action you can then assign a second stretch action to the same linear parameter i.e you can have 2 stretch actions assigned to 1 linear parameter. If you then select the the second stretch action and look at its properties you will see an 'Overrides section'. Change the distance multiplier to 50% and the item you wanted to stay in the middle will only move 50%. I hope you got that but if you didn't re-post and I'll attach a simple file showing it. Quote
ScottyG Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 Thanks Bob, You were correct in assuming that I am using a linear parameter with a stretch action. What I want is a typical base cabinet with one door that has a toekick. The toekick needs to be separately adjustable from the door/box height and I think that's where the problem lies. Maybe I'll need to draw the toekick separately. Next I'll attempt to make a 1 door/ 1 drawer base block. Wish me luck. Quote
Bogbadbob658 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 If you want to upload a small file showing what you want to do and bit more information I'll have a look at it for you. Quote
SLW210 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 You may need to upgrade, this is possible with the use of constraints. Not sure of a way with AutoCAD 2007, a small file would help. Quote
ScottyG Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 Here you go. It's a pretty simple cabinet so it's frustrating that I can't even make this dumb box dynamic. BASECAB.DWG Quote
Bogbadbob658 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Does this do what you wanted? Note that I removed the flip option and replaced it with a viability state. I find it easier to work with than flip. just draw both options and select which you what to see. BASECAB test.DWG Quote
ScottyG Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 Could you save as 2007.dwg please? Quote
resullins Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Here, I saved as 2007. BASECAB test.DWG Quote
ScottyG Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 Works like a charm. I see how you associated that stretch with the swing line at the middle of the door, brilliant. Quote
