resullins Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Just a minute ago, my AutoCAD crashed on me. Big surprise. I try to kill this program at least once a day. The issue is now that when I re-opened AC, my ribbon was back and my toolbars were gone. I hate the ribbon. I haven't used it in forever. Why would my CUI just totally revert like that? Is there any way to get around this, or do I have to rebuild it the way I like it from scratch? I'm annoyed. Quote
ReMark Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 You should not have to rebuild things if you saved your customizations as a new workspace. You did, didn't you? Quote
DANIEL Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 I have had this happen, my solution was to turn off windows automatic updates. Quote

It's just always been what's opened under the Drafting and Annotation Workspace. I will have to redo it and save it this time. I have had this happen, my solution was to turn off windows automatic updates. Mine are turned off. I've just got some sort of voodoo that kills AC. Quote
ReMark Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Typically if you have done any customization at all to one of the default workspaces you should save it under a new name. Temporarily kill your anti-virus program. Does AutoCAD still crash? Quote
DANIEL Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 its got to be something similar as my CAD was reverting like that as well until i turned off those autoupdates, what other similar software do you run? Quote
SLW210 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Try turning of Autodesk spyware aka InfoCenter. Read THIS. I finally tracked my sudden shut downs and wierd drawing effects to WSCommCntr2.exe. Quote
resullins Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 I'm afraid to try it right now. I'll wait til I'm not busy doing other stuff... when I might forget it's off and accidentally download something. We use the Eset Nod32, though... it's always been pretty non-invasive as far as anti-virus software goes. Quote
