Bobzy20 Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I've created an attribute title block but was just wondering if it was good practice to put that newly created title block onto its own dedicated layer or maybe just to put it onto layer 0? Having the title block on its own layer seems a bit useless as that layer has no control over the title block what so ever. I guess this could relate to all other blocks in general, what layer do they go on? Quote
Grant Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Having it on one layer may limit you with having different pen widths when plotting (if you use layer colours with plotting). The good thing about Attributes is it is easy to program for! Another thing to maybe look at is Xref the title block (if it mostly stays inhouse) as if you have to change a thing like a LOGO you change one drawing and it will update thousands. The only thing I would suggest is make sure you make your Title block in 'model space' so you can use it in either model or paper space. Quote
stevsmith Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 I have it set up on its own individual layer. I just find it handy icase i have to freeze or turn off certain layers. You can have everything (text and stuff) on this layer and just change the colours manually. Thats all I done. Quote
CAD_Brisbane Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Definitely reference the title block in as an xref and insert the attributes in as a block. Have any text/line work on individual layers (for control of line weight and colours for printing) and insert the attributes as a block so that the attributes can be updated using lisp. Both to be on layer zero in the drawing. Quote
