jsp-cad Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Hi I fear I know the answer to this but here goes anyway ... we are constantly getting 'Z' co-ordinates in our drawings and wondered if there is anyway of limiting a new cad drawing to only allow 2D drafting - ideally switch off the Z axis completely. Thanks Quote
Patrick Hughes Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Your fear is well founded. There is no magic bullet in LT. Fact is there is no magic bullet in full AutoCAD - it takes a little bit of smoke and mirrors. Quote
eldon Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Can you use OSNAPZ set to the appropriate value Quote

Organic Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Why is it a problem? Most survey data is displayed with z heights. If it is a problem, at the end simply ctr a and set all the entity properties z value to 0. Quote

Its a big problem down line if someone has taken a drawing done with varying z points and tries to do a 2d drawing not knowing that the point he just snapped to is z-500 when he thinks its zero. It really shows up if you use any sort of lisp routine to gather distances for things like bills of material that looks at the length of a line or polyline. Something that should be 10 feet is comes out a 150 feet, and stuff like that. Quote
