How to print a large tiff image?

Is there any work around that will force AutoCad to spool when trying to print a large .tiff image? I am trying to print an image whose file size is 150mb to a plotter.

It doesn't spool at all, it instantly prints (leaving out the image). The image is on a layer set to print etc.

Is there any way to reduce the size or resolution of the image? It's hard to imagine that any software could handle a file that size.

What plotter? Spooling is a function of the plotter pc3 I believe. Try going into plotter properties and check for spooling.

How is the tiff attached? Is it on a network or local drive?

Under printer preferences check use computer memory vs the printer memory. I have always had problems printing large files because our printer is so old it does not have enough memory to handle the larger print jobs. For ease of use, I have 2 printers installed. They are the same physical printer, but one uses the printer memory, and the other uses the computer memory.

If your working in raster design, You may be able to do a save as and compress it using LZW or CCITT might work.

BEFORE YOU START THOUGH-I would make a copy of the original file then copy the copy and try the different encoding methods to see if any of them shrink it. The reason for the first copy is, you never want to play with your original incase you screw it up. The copy of the copy is because sometimes playing with the encoding makes the file larger and you will want to junk those and try a different encoding.

These may aslo cut your resolution altough I here the LZZW dose not.

Another thing you may want to try if you don't have to deliver an electronic version is print it to a .PDF file and then print it to the copier. sometimes works.

I have fought this same battle quite a few times and it seems like with every file there is a different set of circumstances that change the rules you have to play by. good luck.

Ideally I want it at that resolution, although if it can't be printed then it will have to be changed to a smaller file format.

I can print it fine directly from Windows, although need to print it from AutoCad or Civil 3D so that some annotation can be added and it is scaled correctly.

I attached it through Insert => Raster image reference and selected the .tiff. I tried it with the .tiff referenced to both the network and on my local desktop computer although both failed to work.

I'll try to have a look into the printer spooling properties, although I thought I had looked in there already and couldn't see anything like that.

I don't quite understand the first part of your statement there, although I've already tried to print a pdf (with the intention of then printing that) using the built in AutoCad pdf function and it failed to print the image also.
