jquackenbush Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I was wondering if there is a way to print proposed lines in color, yet still have everything else print in monochrome. Currently we print using monochrome, but would like to have our proposed line work stand out even more by selecting them, and having them print out in color. Is there a way to do this without having to set all the other layers to a grey scale manually. Thanks Quote
the ber Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 this sounds like a case for named plot styles. you set one style as black for most lines, and another style as normal, for example, with color by layer or however you define the lines' colors. Quote
the ber Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 here's a good article that might help http://www.ejsurveying.com/Articles/NamedPlotStyles.aspx Quote
ReMark Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I'm sure it is a good article but I don't have time to read it all right now. Assign a TrueColor to the layer your "proposed" work is on and use either a monchrome.ctb or stb plot style. Yes, it works. Quote
jquackenbush Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 Thanks guys, I cant switch to a stb plot file unless i reconfigure my plotter by the looks of things, but was able to choose which colors plotted out. A bit more leg work then what I was hoping for, but future drawings should go a bit quicker. Quote
tzframpton Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 ReMark has the best idea if you can't switch to STB Plot Styles. CTB Plot Styles do not recognize anything set to a True Color (aka: R,B,G Setting, from the True Color tab in the Color Selector). This is what I do for "redlines" among other things when I create PDF's and I need something to stand out. Quote

jquackenbush Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 In the Plot style Table Editor you can select which color you want to print. It doesnt have to be a true color, can be any of the 250 some odd colors that CAD has. I have them set to print as the object color, but if you wanted to you can select to have color 1 plot off as color 35 Quote
CyberAngel Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Another solution is to select all the existing-object layers and override their colors for that viewport only. Assuming you want to do this in only one viewport.... Quote
BIGAL Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 (edited) Ours colour 1-9 = black, 10-150 = object colour, 251-255 grey just save the ctb and give it a name, eg gas mains by layer with linetype ----G---- color 10 bright red! PLOT next to little down arrow top right side is the CTB modify and save Edited December 9, 2011 by BIGAL Quote
