rhader Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Hey Guys, does someone have a good general note for : 1) part marking manufactured parts and assemblies? By hand essentially with a permanent marker for instance? 2) installing cherry max rivets? thx!! Quote
tmld Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 1) All parts shall be labeled per plan. Part numbers may be manually inscribed with (whichever marker you prefer). If you have a jillion parts to be made, sticker labels are way less time consuming and they can help audit production. 2) [whatever part] shall be installed per manufacturer's specifications. Many manufacturers prefer you use (plagiarize) their specifications to reduce/eliminate end user liability issues. Don't spend time reinventing the wheel if it's being given to you for free. Quote
rhader Posted December 12, 2011 Author Posted December 12, 2011 this is what I ended up with... make sense? For Part Marking: 1) INDELIBLY MARK IN PERMANENT INK ALL MANUFACTURED PARTS AND ASSEMBLIES WITH PART NUMBER AND REVISION. ALL CHARACTERS TO BE 0.25INCHES HIGH. For Cherry Max Rivets: 2) DRILL LOCATIONS AS SHOWN AFTER SHEET METAL ASSEMBLY. USE 3M ADHESIVE, 1300L TO ADHERE HONEYCOMB SPACER (ITEM NO. 301) TO BRACKETS AND USE CHERRY MAX 3214-4 RIVETS AS SHOWN. CAD_Kitty Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 On note 1 I would add something in there about "CONTRASTING COLOR INK" or else someone down the line will mark a black box with black ink. Note 2 sounds great. Quote
