ReMark Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 (edited) What type of font(s) did you use in your drawing? SHX or TTF? Edited December 31, 2011 by ReMark Quote
the ber Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Tere! How are you exporting your work to PDF? Are you using the "DWG to PDF" plotter from Autocad? Quote
eldon Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Whilst you are trying to find the solution to the problem with the Export to PDF, have you tried the Plot to PDF, and does it give the same problem? Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 The only font I've ever had that trouble with was Arial. When it generates the font in the PDF file and I open it, i get an error message similar to that about ArialMT. I downloaded and installed ArialMT to every folder I could find that had fonts, but it never made any difference. Got it every time. Finally changed all of my templates to use Calibri instead of Arial, haven't had the problem since. Quote
Demtor Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 I was using SHX I believe. (Arial, Gost type A, and others). I use autoCAD exporter to convert to PDF. Simply in menu I choose Export - PDF and than show the area I want to put on A3 format paper. Just now I did Plot - XPS format. And I have no problems with font now it seems. How do I convert XPS to PDF than? I really need it in PDF because in printcenter they want it to be PDF. Quote
Demtor Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Now it seems that when I save it as XPS it does not put it right on my paper! Landscape and portrait thing is messed up I guess, but I cant find where to choose this option. Also I tried to plot it to Dwg to Pdf.pc3 and when its ready pdf file is totally white! I am very new to autoCAD so try to explain everything step by step please. Quote
the ber Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 If your view is totally white, then you might be seeing only a small (white) part of your drawing. When you start to plot your drawing, a window opens up with all kinds of options. Maybe you need to check "plot extents" or "plot visible" or "plot layout". There is also another button where you can say something like "fit to sheet". I'm not sure about these terms, because my CAD version is German. I also used to have trouble with certain fonts, when plotting with "DWG to PDF", but I was able to fix it by adding fonts to the "DWG to PDF.pc3" file. If you can go to the plotter configuration menu, then you can also do this. As I said though, my version is German, so I can't help you word-for-word. If you could upload your drawing, then somebody could certainly walk you through it, but you probably don't have enough posts in the forum yet. Quote
Demtor Posted January 2, 2012 Author Posted January 2, 2012 Okay! After a day behind my computer I finally figured it out! First I changed the page setup manager to A3 ISO format , than as text style I chose ISOCP. I also used Plot - Dwg to PDF.pc3 , set the scale 1:1 cuz I did scaled project for A3 paper and centered it. AND IT WORKED! No problems with opening PDF now! Thank you everyone for your time and help! Happy new year! Quote
