trin_rob Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Good morning guys. My work just update me to 2012. Really like it, some cool new features. Unfortunately I no longer seem to be able to snap to the nodes of block attributes. My osnap settings are set to snap to nodes. I wonder whether it's a variable that on my previous version of AutoCAD was set to one thing and the new version defaults to another. It's not a massive deal - but quite annoying and preys on my AutoCAD OCD. Any thoughts? Quote
Dadgad Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 You should be able to do it. Are you having any other issues with your Osnaps. Did you migrate your settings from the previous version? Quote
trin_rob Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 I've not encountered any other osnap related problems yet. Unfortunately not. Cutting a long story short - I had my CAD workstation taken away and then had it reinstated and during the process the profile was lost. Dumb of me not to have saved it, I know. A little more detail: the thing I want to snap to is the upper-left corner of a piece of text that is part of the block that forms our A1 Drawing Frame. I don't have any problem snapping to nodes separate text boxes that don't form parts of blocks - only when they do. So actually I told you wrong the first time, it's not a block attribute I want to snap to it's the nodes of a text box within a block. Quote
trin_rob Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 I did find gripblock but that variable just dictates whether the grips are visible or not and doesn't affect my ability to snap to it unfortunately Thanks though. Quote
SLW210 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Do you have a command active? Can you post the block? Quote
trin_rob Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 I suspect it's nothing to do with the block as I had no problem with it with my previous version. I suspect it's a system variable that has changed between AutoCAD 2010 and 2012... A1.dwg Quote
SLW210 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 What exactly are you trying to snap? I had no problems. Quote
trin_rob Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 Typically, for example, if I wanted to include a set of notes I would drag a text box from the upper left node of the "notes" text and drag it to the bottom right of the box, press enter twice and begin typing the notes. Now that I have upgraded to 2012, I can no longer snap to the "notes" node. I appreciate there are other things I can do to achieve the same result but i'm a creature of habit, and generally curious.
