RainMan52 Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 Each program has it's strengths and weaknesses. A lot of the time its more a matter of "it's not how (insert program name here) does it" than that one way is more complex than the other, you just have to get used to the way things are done and find the shortcuts (I assure you they are there if you want to find them). For instance if you don't want to go through all that trouble there are addins out there that will produce a midpoint located rectangle (I don't remember where though). I just had to learn CATIA. Feel glad that Inventor and Solidedge are as similar in function as they are, CATIA will make you insane.... My sister uses CATIA... and excuse my alreay bad spelling in eglish, but that software is one expensive crap with a learning curve that makes everest looks too easy. No wonder why nasa can't send a man to mars yet....they are too busy figuring out how to constrain their geometry in CATIA. No offence to any catia users out there... and you are totally right about Enventor and Solid Edge, because I HAVE to use one at school and HAVE to work with one at work....I'm starting to like both. and what enventor lack it gains with how open it it to other softwars like Autocad (my love ) 3dsMax and the neat add-on you find in Autodesk lab. What makes solid Edge good (aside from the fact that it's an awesom surface modeller) is that it's cheeeeeaaaaap and easy to use. BTW thank for the info on JDMathers...he has some neat Inventor tricks in his PDFs. Glad I found this group, because almost all of the others were dea since 2005. and I don,t know why. one inventor forum even has porn spam everywhere.... Quote

It is one of the best and is frequented by most all of the real gurus.http://www.mcadforums.com/forums/index.php yeah I've been reading post on this forum for quite a while now, without registering. I went there to register two days ago (the day discovered and registered here...same day i found the Inventor porn forum) But found out that for some reason "my email account" had been banned ...for some odd reason that only an Xfile episode can explain. But yeah they have ALOt of gurus on there Quote
JD Mather Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 you simply see the center point and can connect to it but you don,t have any constraint to it, unless you do some geometric acrobatics with your sketch... it's not really realistic in a production environement. I think you are missing the point, literally. No extra clicks required. Shape of geometry is irrelevant.
