bartymic Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 hi, how could i draw any viewport's border line in layouts, if i do not want to use predefined rectangle, thanks Quote
ReMark Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Polygonal viewports are supported in AutoCAD 2012. Even circular viewports can be used. Quote
bartymic Posted January 8, 2012 Author Posted January 8, 2012 is it possible to put new viewport in already existing one and use the image of the origine? the old one after that i want to delete. Quote
ReMark Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Delete the old one; create a new one. Simple. Quote
bartymic Posted January 8, 2012 Author Posted January 8, 2012 i need the image from first one, i want to draw the border of viewport on existing part of photo Quote
ReMark Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 If the image is in model space and your viewport is in your layout then deleting the viewport is not going to delete the image that exists back in model space. Delete the viewport you don't need and create a new one. Quote
ReMark Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Polygonal viewports and viewports created from objects are explained here. http://cad-notes.com/2010/10/4-viewport-tips-configurations-irregular-clip-and-scale/ Can a viewport be created within a viewport? Short answer is "yes". I make it a habit not to do so however. You want further advice on it then you'll have to wait until another forum member can answer you question. Quote

Dana W Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 is it possible to put new viewport in already existing one and use the image of the origine? the old one after that i want to delete. Holey Smokes, 8.39 megabytes? Even on my fiber-optic connection, that would be a big file to open on the internet. I guess it has been a while since that drawing was purged, huh? Yes, you can make a viewport inside of another one. However, the objects in each viewport will overlap. In other words the inside viewport will be transparent. You will still see all the objects in both viewports all intermingled, but you can scale and pan or zoom each one independently. Of course, for your purposes that will be OK, since you are deleting the original viewport. If you wanted to keep both viewports, you would have to place the little one so it lands in a blank area of the big one. I even tried putting a wipeout under the new viewport and it did not work. Remember though, as Remark said, when you delete a viewport, you are not deleting the images and objects inside of it. It is perfectly safe to delete an existing viewport, and then create a new one in the now blank paperspace. The new one will auto-magically show your modelspace objects, and then you can scale and/or pan it to suit your needs. Think of your viewport as just a hole in your paper that lets you see what you drew in modelspace. You can move this paper with a hole in it all around until your objects fit in the hole the way you like. You've seen the characature of a movie director holding his fingers up making a frame to view the surrounding scene through, right. That is what you are doing with a viewport in paperspace. Quote
RobDraw Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 is it possible to put new viewport in already existing one and use the image of the origine? the old one after that i want to delete. Why make another viewport? Just adjust the current one using grip edits. Quote
ReMark Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I believe the OP wanted to substitute a polygonal viewport for the rectangular one he had. Quote
RobDraw Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 You're right. How about drawing a poly line and using viewport clip? Quote
rkent Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 If the viewport already exists then use the CLIP command, pick on the viewport, draw your shape and you are done. If you need an exact shape draw that first to use to trace over. Or draw the polygon first, use the mview command, object option, pick on the polygon. Quote
