Materials in Piping Systems - Pipe vs Fittings

I'm using pre-manufactured fittings (Victaulic to be exact). I want to give my Ductile Iron pipe a specific render appearance. So I go into my Pipe System and assign a material to the system...but it changes my fitting appearances too.

 

Is there a way to filter this so my fittings retain their own material?

 

Or am I SOL and either have to accept it or paint each pipe quadrant?
