Guest deadseasquirrels Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 Ok I am doing this 3D design for the first time. I set 3 different viewports, one that is iso, one with the plan view, and one that is front view. But a weird thing started (let me reiterate started happening out of the blue) happening. Everytime I left one viewport that viewport would revert back to the plan view. And it also displayed a broken pencil in a box. I looked up what that might mean online, and luckily there was some things posted about it, but not enough to help me. Then I read one article about setting the UCSORTHO to 0. I must have done something with that variable at one point, but I have no idea what. So basically what was happening was this. I had 3 viewports. Everytime I left one of these viewports it would revert to another view, then when I clicked on the viewport, it would go back to the view I wanted it to be in. I finally changed UCSORTHO to 0 and things are kind of working again. But I have no idea what happened, and I would love to find out. Quote
Orbit Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 Hit F1 and type in UCSORTHO and you have an answer. About broken pencil- warns you that you are looking at the xy plane. Not a good option while still dwg. in 3D and you need that viewport. You have done a new UCS which is not the World UCS. Quote
hendie Posted September 8, 2003 Posted September 8, 2003 check your UCSFOLLOW system variable ! Quote
Guest deadseasquirrels Posted September 8, 2003 Posted September 8, 2003 Hendie, You're awesome. That was it. But two things. How on earth did you ever come across that, but more importantly, how on earth is anybody suppose to ever know that. Second, how could that variable have ever changed? I'm assuming then that there is some button that can change that variable, but god knows I didn't change it consciously. But thanks again. Quote
hendie Posted September 8, 2003 Posted September 8, 2003 just one of those things I guess, as you do more 3D work, you get to know the variables more and more. Quote

It's worth hitting F1 and then going through the list of SYSVARIABLES available. Nick Quote

Anyway, it's a good site and has some useful stuff, check it out. Quote
hyposmurf Posted September 23, 2003 Posted September 23, 2003 Your right I looked at his site a while back and it hadnt been updated, maybe I should have checked it again before posting!I cant find the online test though, that was really useful. It was multiple choice questions that you emailed off once youd copmleted the test and he returned your results via email a couple of days later. darrenschroeder Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I also have this problem and I have tried to resolve it with the ucsfollow and the ucsortho with no success. Is there something I am missing besides the boat. Quote
