Hi . How to make one pline from small segments of plines , i mean it looks like one pline , but contains many pieces plines , how to make it just one pline from segments .

Thanks

Not sure you can join parellel polylines, like you are asking, do you just want a heavy line ? you could set the width of the center one to the thickness you need..

i am trying to join them from small segments to one pline

i see the command 0 segment added to pline

are all the pline segments connected end to end?

it would be the distance that the ends are allowed to be seperated and still be joined if the FUZZ distance is set higher... Can you post what your trying to do? it sounds like your poly lines shoudl join no problem, maybe it's something else...

I recommend reading the help file for pedit to give you a better idea of what's going on with fuzz distance. If you choose pedit, then the Multiple option, and select ALL the segments you want to join, then Join, they should all become one pline assuming they are end to end. If they won't join check to ensure they are all in the same plane.

you can join polylines that do not touch if the fuzz distance is set to a higher value larger than the distance between the endpoints

that is what I am doing , and when I type ''join'' it asks what is the distance ? not sure what to put .

it may also be due to a tiny difference in the Z value of the lines which sometimes occurs for no obvious reason.

before using pedit: join

select all lines together and in the properties box enter 0 for the Z value, and even if it is already set to 0, type 0 again and hit enter. then try the pedit command.

If your units are only set for example to 2 decimal places you won't see any difference in the Z value if one of the lines has a Z value of 0.00001

You could also use the flatten command under express tools to do the same as suggested above

Good call feargt !! I forgot about that, myself....

Svtiss the fuzz distance can be 0 if the ends are joined

Well, I tried what you guys told me, on my home comp, it worked ok , I joined 2 plines it was no problem , but no luck at work

try pedit>m>select all the polylines>join>> > = enter

you can join all the polylines that intersect each others ends, unless they are in a different elevation....

I get this sometimes from imported survey drawings. Fuzz will work but sometimes it's not happy at all - I THINK it's because objects from the source application are converting to plines and there is some really minor loss of geometry. :? .

I usually end up by isolating the layer with the plines I want to join then setting osnap to end point only and reconnecting each point - it sounds like it takes longer than it actually does.

The pedit-join should then work.

Happy days.
