keithrtaylor
Hi, I have a 3d model of a building and all of the faces of the building are of the type polyface mesh. If I use explode, each polyface mesh gets split into individual 3d faces. But, I'd simply like to replace each polyface mesh with a 3d face (not multiple 3d faces). Is there anyway to do this? The reason I'm doing this is because I'm importing the building model into ray tracing software, but the software doesn't like the building when the faces are of the type polyface mesh. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
ReMark
What is the advantage to using polyface meshes to create a building? Why use a mesh rather than a solid for example?
keithrtaylor
The building models were given to me in Google Sketchup. I did not create them myself. I exported the models out of sketchup into dxf format (since this is the format my ray tracing software uses). When I open up the dxf files in autocad, the walls(faces) are polyface mesh. I'm trying to work with what I got. These are very detailed models and creating them from scratch is not an option. Thanks
SLW210
I moved this thread to AutoCAD 3D Modelling & Rendering. What version of SketchUp? What file types can you export from SkethUp? Have you tried CONVTOSOLID in AutoCAD?
