Openantics Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I received a large data set of contour data which extends well beyond the area of concern. I created a very specific polyline outlining the project area, but is there a boundary line that will delete/remove all data beyond the area polyline and keep data within? tia Quote
Grant Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 You could try Trim - Fence But I think there is a better command than this? Quote
CyberAngel Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Grant's suggestion will delete the extra contour data permanently. If you want to create a surface that exists only inside the border, you might make a copy, use Grant's suggestion, create a surface from the remaining contours, and then paste it back into the original drawing. ScribbleJ Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 If your using Civil 3D to create a surface then just import your polyline as a boundary under Definition. Right click Boundaries then Add. Another dialog will prompt you for some info. Use the Data clip option and all others left as defaults unless you have arcs in your boundary. If so I suggest setting the Mid-ordinate Distance to 0.1 or 0.25. The former preferably. You're data will be clipped without losing any of it. But any data added later will be clipped by this boundary. See images below. Name is not necessary but is useful if you have a lot of boundaries. (Note: You can only have one outer boundary.) Quote
BIGAL Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Agree with scribble but if you want a permanent clip try searching here for Cookiecutter.lsp Quote
