I'm a begginer in 3D and I have this room with arc walls. I drew it but as you see they are two surfaces and noting between them so how do I fill the part between arc walls? I know how to fill them when they are flat (with box etc.) but what shape do I use when dealing with arc walls? And I dont just mean fill the top but the whole space between them

here's a photo

Why didn't you just make the wall a solid instead?

First of all make sure that the 2D wall lines(polyline I assume) are closed, or else you'll get a Surface like what you have.

then, extrude the outer and inner lines to create 2 solids, afterwards subtract the inner wall with the outer wall to leave your wall shell

What do you mean closed? Aren't they closed?

Btw. can anyone recommend me an Autocad tutorial book that deals with architect section of Autocad, because every book I come across on 3D section deals only on drawing machine parts.

Its just to make sure, sometimes polylines are not closed and their gaps are so miniscule that it doesnt get seen, and when that happens and you extrude it, you come up with a surface and not a solid.

I don't know if there are any books that deal with 3d archi designing. There's one that is about interior design for acad2009, just search on amazon.

Yay, I finally made it

But I have one more question and that is, how do I make holes in the wall, for let's say windows?

Posted

create solids with the dimensions of your windows, then just subtract them from the walls. the only tricky part of this is to properly position them

OK, nocturne, it helps.

But I also run into some other problem. While I'm working in 3D the picture sometimes gets shaded (darkened) while I do some commands like '3D rotate' and it lightens up after I done the rotating. But sometimes it stays darkened and I don't know how to lighten it back. Can anyone tell me how to lighten the screen back?
