MisterJingles Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Hi all Lately I'm getting the error below regularly. It used to happen if I was still in a command when I tried to save but now it happens consistently even after multiple "ESC". Could anyone tell me what the common causes of this error are? It happens across a number of drawings, not limited to just one. Thanks Quote
MisterJingles Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 And yes I know the reason given is "as it is being accessed by another session" I just don't know what this means, I get this error day after day, my PC gets shut down every evening. Quote
ReMark Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 It almost sounds as though someone else is accessing the file at the same time you are. Quote
MisterJingles Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 Yeah which is just not possible. I'm the only operator here, in fact the only person with AC installed. The thing is that it saves occasionally, probably 50% of the time. And I cannot work out under which circumstances its giving me this error. Quote
RobDraw Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I've gotten that error when I am sure there isn't anyone else in the file. For me, the original file was deleted as a result. A subsequent save restores the file. It happens pretty much for this one project that has 10's of XREFs per file that are couple dependencies deep. It's been guessed that it is due to a slow network connection. Quote
Tiger Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I'll second the network guess - it happens to me as well, equally sure that noone but me is acessing the files. Usually in the afternoons/evenings when the network is winding down for its evenings rest. I know networks don't need beauty sleep, but it sure feels like it. After a few tries it usually works. Can't say I have had the problem before 2012 though... is there a Service Pack out for 2012? Jingles, do you ever save locally, on your harddrive? Do you know if it happens then? P Quote
MisterJingles Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 Ok perhaps that's the issue. Tiger I do but only when taking work home to complete, haven't done so since experiencing this issue. We have a very small network but our server machine is old and virtually completely full, 700MB odd of HD space left, perhaps the machine is operating too slowly, when it does save it takes ages. Finally I can motivate for this server upgrade. Quote
Tiger Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 The error message is that I can't sa e the file since it's open by another session - but no other session is in progress. Quote
ReMark Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Re: server. have someone clean out all the old TEMP files (TMP). That will gain you some more room. Quote
SLW210 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 It is usually a network and/or full drive problem. See THIS Quote
MisterJingles Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 Thanks all, PC techie is busy putting another HD into our server as I type. He will move a pile of things over, not my drawings mind you Will report back if the problem isn't solved, although it makes sense looking at the link posted above. Thanks SLW210. Quote
