pwned555 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Today my text started looking off in AutoCAD. Not only does it look different it is also not displaying some characters correctly (like ' is showing up as ?). I have attached an image, as you can see it does not look like HS text. Quote
bill_borec Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Check to make sure that the text style 'HS' still is referencing the correct font. Use 'STYLE' or 'ST' to access the text style window. Quote
pwned555 Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 When I go into style and select HS, the Font Name has a yellow warning triangle on it like it can't find it. How do I 'reassign' where it should be looking for this font? Quote
bill_borec Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 One way is to copy the .SHX file corresponding to the HS font into the directory that Map is using for its fonts using File Explorer. Another is to add the location of the .SHX to the Support File Search Path in the Options window (Use 'OP' or 'OPTION' to access the Options Window...you have to know where the .shx file is located on the system.) SLW210 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 It will first look in the local folder where the drawing resides, then in the support file search path. What is the name of the font? Quote
pwned555 Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 (edited) I don't know if I have a .shx file, I can only find a .ttf file for the text. I thought copying the .ttf file into C:\Windows\Fonts was enough for AutoCAD to recognize the font, is this incorrect? I'm wondering what I did to my settings so that it no longer recognizes the fonts. The name of the font is HS and I have copied the HS.ttf file for it into C:\Windows\Fonts. It has been working normally until a week or so ago so I must have changed a setting somehow but I'm not sure what. Hmmmm, I just copied over the .ttf file to windows again and instead of installing it as HS, it installs it as Helvetica 53 Extended. When I select that font for HS Font Name instead of HS.TTF it looks okay. It looks like the Style -> Font Name has been changed for all my custom fonts from values like Helvetica 73 Ext Bold (what's installed on windows) to HB.TTF (for my HB custom font). Any idea what could have caused it to be pointing to a different file? Also, I'm not sure when it determines where each font looks for it's Font Name, but after changing the font name, applying the change, and opening a new drawing, the new drawing is back to the old HS.TTF file...
