yrnomad Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 I am just starting out in the world of Dynamic Blocks. I'm trying to take a detail title and add a stretch action to the underline, and I thought the "reference" attribute at the end of that line would stretch with it, but it seems to always exempt the attribute from the selection. What am I doing wrong? I would also like to add a toggle so I can remove the circle with detail number, is that possible? Thanks for your help Ey_title.dwg Quote
dbroada Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 I'm at home so can't look at your block but first thought is - have you locked the attribute's position? This has to be done if you want to move or stretch it. Look into visibility states for hidding details. Quote
yrnomad Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 Ah, that is the opposite of what I expected from that setting. Changing that variable allowed it to work. I think I've got the visibility of the bubble as well, maybe a few more changes down the road though. The options seem to expand as I go along. Thanks again Dave Quote
dbroada Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 yes the "lock position" threw me for a long time. I now consider a locked position to be one where AutoCAD knows it and can therefore be adjusted. If the position isn't locked AutoCAD wouldn't know where to move it from. I don't know if I've explained my thinking but I know what I mean. Glad you realised what I meant by visibility parameter. Be careful though when using attributes and visibility states. There are a few "interesting" happenings, especially with what shows in the dialogue box. Quote
yrnomad Posted October 29, 2008 Author Posted October 29, 2008 I played a bit with it, at first the attribute still showed when the visibility was changed but then I think I locked the attribute and it started disappearing when toggled. What else should I be aware of? Quote
nocturne00 Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Did you create all attributes for your block before you added a visibility parameter? from the 3 types of visibility( hide all, show all, leave existing ..) did you choose? Quote
yrnomad Posted October 29, 2008 Author Posted October 29, 2008 I had the attribute created. I then created two visibility states, "with detail bubble", and "Without Detail Bubble". I selected leave existing for each state, then made my "without detail bubble" active, used the icon that changes something that is visible to be "not visible" to change the bubble and it's attribute to be hidden in that state. Seemed to be pretty cool. Quote
dbroada Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I haven't yet worked out the rules for using visibility actions on attributes. They seem to have a mind of their own as to what will display, what will show in the dialogue box and which attribute will actually change when you edit it in the dialogue box. I@m sure one day it will make sense but I currently don't have the time to sort it out. Dusko was having a go recently, maybe you could pm him and ask what conclusions he made. Quote
yrnomad Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 Hey Dave, I've got another dynamic block question... I've got a series of blocks that consist of a square with text (sometimes normal and attributes) with a middle justification inside. The insertion is the bottom left corner, and has an alignment parameter to get it to snap perpendicular to the "wall". What I want to also happen is for the text to justify it's self between 0 and 90 degrees (whichever is closest to the rotation of the block), but yet remain square or perpendicular in the box. Does that make sense? I saw your post about the north arrow's N, and what you did there, but I can't seem to get that to work. Thanks again for your help. Quote
