bass_mark00 Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 I've got a situation where a user's F buttons on their laptop are defaulting to their Windows FN functions (like brightness contrast etc) instead of ORTHO or OSNAP or any of the other drawing aids. Im aware it's probbly a windows setting rather than an AutoCAD preference but has anyone seen this before? Thanks Quote
bass_mark00 Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 Good question. I don't have access to the machine right now so I can't test it. I'll post once I can find that out. Quote
gutter2d Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 I have the same problem on my home computer with AutoCAD. For example, underneath my F3 key is "undo". So in AutoCAD instead of F3 toggling osnap, it undoes my previous action. I don't think it is an AutoCAD problem because I checked and my F3 key is defined to toggle osnap. It seems to be a limitation with the keyboard and windows doesn't let me change that button when I click on the mouse icon in the control panel. Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 check the num lock key. My wife has a laptop that does stuff like that in her classroom when one of the kids hits the numlock. Quote
ReMark Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Some keyboards can have the Function keys (the "F" buttons? ha, ha, ha) mapped differently depending on which program is being used at the time. Quote
Murph_map Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 You need to press the FN key with the F keys to get them to work in AutoCAD or go into the keyboard settings to change them. Quote
