Offset problem

I am trying to offset a sketch. It offsets fine in an outward direction i.e. it gets bigger. But I can't offset it smaller for some reason. The loop is closed and everything seems OK but.....

Without seeing the loop you are trying to offset, I can only guess that there's some part of it that would be self intersecting. Can you post a screen shot or the actual file? that would help.

You can erase the small radius and offset the two large arcs, draw the fillets back in.

It offsets in either direction for me - as long as I don't try to go beyond where the fillet would be zero (or less).

That was my problem. I assumed wrongly that it would adjust automatically.

What would that assumed adjustment look like?

Can you manually sketch what you expected?

I just thought the offset would close on the fillet until it became a corner and would continue decreasing on that basis I suppose.

The arc entity would have to be automatically erased by Inventor and the coincident constraints at the endpoints of the arcs transfered to the endpoints of the lines. Sounds like a wish-list item. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=1109794
