JonsO Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 I have used 2D Autocad for a good few years to design kitchen layouts. I now need to try and produce rendered 3D images and although reading some threads I understand Autocad is not best for this, I would like to try and work with Autocad. My problem at present is specifying colours for materials and getting them to attach to solids. I have been using the Render Tool and can add new materials with the various characteristics such as Bump, Diffuse, Opacity but cannot work out how to specify the right colour for how I want the rendered face to look in my finished image. I have played around with the lighting settings but that doesn't seem to be the problem. Also when I have got a material attached to a solid the command to 'Remove Materials from selected object' does not seem to work. Am I missing something. Any help would be gratefully received or suggestions as to where I could look for examples of how the rendering tool works for something like a kitchen. This is my first attempt with a help forum so if I have got anything wrong, please bear with me.300mm x 2150mm panel door.dwg Quote
Bobzy20 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I think it’s easier to pay somebody to render them for you! Rendering is a whole new ball game and isn’t easy to get good results. Probably why nobody has replied. Quote
ReMark Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 One piece of advice I see repeated often is to assign materials to layers rather than to individual objects. What types of materials are you using? Can you post a drawing with one object that you have assigned a material to and find you cannot remove the material? Maybe someone here can take a look at it. If you search on the word "render" or "rendering" you'll find similar threads to yours where you may pick up some useful tips. Unfortunately, in my line of work (chemical) there is no call for applying materials or rendering. Oops. Just realized the date the thread was started was 11 days ago. Looks like I'm late to the party. Oh well, I'll leave this here in case anyone else posts with the same problems. Quote
khama Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Sometimes mapping co-ordinates can solve the materials not displaying correctly. Wrapping them using X, Y and Z measurements will make them appear correctly. Mapping co-ordinates can be found in the materials toolbar in autocad, and can be applied to the object directly. I use 3D Studio, it is much easier and better than cad to apply materials. Quote
