mattd@acdsecurity.com Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I just recently created a "new" tool palette and renamed it as usual. Then I tried to drag a new block into that new palette and it wont let me. I've tried both my original drawings and drawings that were developed by someone else. It doesn't work in either case. But, I can drag the new block into any other tool palette I have whether its the default autocad ones or ones I've made in the past. Don't get it, I've done this a thousand times over the years with all different versions on Autocad. Now I can't do it. I haven't done any work on my pc, same one I've had. Still using 2011, but no luck. Any Suggestions? Quote
BlackBox Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 So... How's having your email address as your member name working out for you? Is spam bombarding your inbox something you particularly enjoy? Quote
tzframpton Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Did the Tool Palette create itself in a Read Only directory? Quote
BlackBox Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 An easy check would be to see what the Palette path is using the Options Command, Files Tab (toward the bottom). Quote
BlackBox Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Although, it would stand to reason, that if the user has write access to create the Tool Palette in a given location, that the user also have write access over the Palette once created. Quote
mattd@acdsecurity.com Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 This is driving me nuts! The "new" palette I create, then rename is located at: c:\documents and settings\matt\Application data\Autodesk\Autocad 2011\R18.1\enu\support\Tool Palettes\Palettes like it should be. It's not set to read only. It's set up the same as all others whether they are default autocad palettes or ones I made. When i select the block then right click and drag it to the new tool palette, it doesn't stay. But if i select the same block, and drag it to an existing tool palette it stays. I can't be the only person in the world that has this issue. I know I can drag it into an existing palette, but I want to keep the palettes seperate depending on the type of block I'm trying to save. ??????? Quote
tzframpton Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Open Design Center and locate the directory with the drawing that has the block. Upon expanding the Drawing to access the Blocks that are housed inside the drawing, right-click on the Block and use the "Create Tool Palette" option. Does this do it for you? Just trying an alternative method to further narrow down the issue. Quote
mattd@acdsecurity.com Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 nope, I tried the design center route. wont let me save the block into a new palette either Quote
tzframpton Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 What error does it give? Is it just this particular block, or any block? Quote
