Hi!

Is it possible to link an object properties (lenght, area, centroid...) to a formula.

Eg. I have an object polyline or hatch with its area.

I want that area value to be inserted as a value A in my equation wich will give an final result. Also changing object dimensions will result in automatic change of the result.

Is something like this possible inside Autocad, or should I look for some other program. Recomendations...

Thanx in advance!

You'll need to look into reactors. They are not for the faint of heart. -David

What are reactors?

I didnt know that you could insert fields into formulas?

Is there any chance of inserting an quadriatic formula into Autocad?

Look into constraints also you can have formulas plus lots of other Autocad linked stuff.

Given length of line "a" side "b" is a^2-56

Yes, see Stephan's post for an example.

For the method of how to insert another Field into a Formula Field:

  • Type FIELD at the command-line

  • Under 'Field Category', select 'Objects'

  • Under 'Field Names', select 'Formula'

  • Type your formula in the 'Formula' panel

  • Where you need to link to a property, right-click in the 'Formula' panel and click 'Insert Field':

What aboth inserting quadriatic formula?

This would probably be mine final goal.

Possible?

Yes, just type the quadratic into the formula field.

Not taking away from fields, menu "Parametric Constraints" like above draw a rectang you basicly dim the L X W you can then apply rules say w= 1/2 L change one the other auto changes draw a circle in a plate and edge distance is always 1/2 RAD.
