Lock/unlock viewports, select objects to copy...

Hello. I need a little help with autoCAD. I was trying to recover a temporary file but as i know now, it's impossible. I entered a few commands relating to grips and something else wich i don't remember, and now I'm unable to lock/unlock viewports and when I select objects to copy and then press _CO or copy button or copy with base point, it deselects the objects and asks me to select them again. If anyone can help me on the command I should use to restore the previous definitions, I would be very aprecciated, since it is delaying my work and giving me a headache. Thanks in advance.

Tools > Options > Selection > Noun/Verb Selection..... also known as PICKFIRST = 1

Why Autodesk hasn't removed/locked this variable yet is a mystery to me because it has to be the single biggest issue plaguing AutoCAD users in the last decade.

It still doesn't work. A few minutes ago I tried in one of the layout's typing pickfirst and I was able to lock unlock the viewports. But only that layout works, and I still can't copy items by selecting and then pressing _co. Any advice?

Thanks for your time and help.

Noun/Verb is definitely checked in Options, right? Does it happen in all drawings? Objects/Layers frozen or isolated?

In the dialog box of tools/options/selection/selection modes noun/verb selection and implied windowing are checked, the others aren't. I tried entering the pickfirst command in all layouts to see if it worked but it doesn't. Tried putting pickfirst value to zero and back to one, but it still doesn't work. The viewport problem of locking and unlocking: I double clicked the vp frame entering the drawing, then exited the model space and then I was able to lock and unlock that viewport... strange. The layers aren't locked nor frozen. I also tried checking and unchecking the pickfirst command, saving the dwg exiting and reentering.

it might be some error due to the fact that i changed the extension of a temporary file and tried to open it in CAD 2011. I don't know, but it's frustrating

Can you post the drawing here for testing, or at least a portion of it?

Am I correct to assume you had trouble with the drawing an that's why you're using one recovered from a temp folder? Have you tried the AUDIT command to check for errors?

This dwg i'm using is the version prior to the crash, i tried opening a temporary file because I have no autosaves but I failed to do it. Couldn't open it. I tried the audit command, it has no errors. I'm not able to post the dwg cause it has information that i can't transmit. Maybe if I reinstall CAD it will assume the standard definitions. ... Thankyou anyway

If you crashed, it's very possible that the drawing, or AutoCAD may have been corrupted, but before you re-install, make sure the problem also exists in a new/clean drawing.

As far as posting a drawing, just SaveAs and pick another filename and delete/purge anything that can't be distributed from the copy.
