Bogbadbob658 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Is it possible to have varying column widths in Mtext? If so how? Many thanks Quote

Dadgad Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) If you select the MTEXT individually you can have as many different column widths as you want. If you group them by selection then they will have the same column widths, assuming that you have turned on columns in the properties, of course. You probably want to be using the Dynamic column setting. But you can have different selection sets (grouped) in the same drawing with different dynamic column widths. You may well be correct. There can be only one column width in a single MTEXT as it is displayed, but you can set up specifications for different widths based on the number of columns, within an MTEXT if you use the Static column style. You will not be able to display more than one of the selectable column width configurations at a time in a single MTEXT. The overall width is divided into identical increments. They stretch with a single lateral grip. Each MTEXT can have unique column designations, as the information seems to be stored with the MTEXT object, not as a drawing system variable. Quote
Bogbadbob658 Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 My original question was relating to a single MTEXT object however if it's not possible to have a multiple column width within a single object then grouping a series of MTEXT objects may be a suitable compromises. Thank you for your help Quote

jules_s Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Is there some sort of variable for allowing scaling of Mtext which has dynamic columns? The reason I ask is that our surveyor works in units = metres, so when we get his drawings we scale them x1000 to work in mm. Unfortunately that means the 'text' column width is invariably Quite frankly I'm inclined to turn the columns off; although tbh I've not really searched as to what they are intended to do Quote

Likely the use of columns was due to space constraints imposed by the scale. Quote
